Just receiving flowers and a gift can bring a smile to just about anyone’s face. For Twigs flower and gift shop owner Tracey Foster and her assistant Annette Emens, one can easily see their joy in being surrounded by flowers all day.
Foster opened her shop Sept. 4 following a previous experience working with “two wonderful ladies” in another flower shop, she said. While working in their shop, Foster realized her dream and set out to create her own shop.

So far, she said everything has been awesome.
“How could it not be, working with beautiful fresh flowers,” Foster said.

TRANQUIL AMONG FLOWERS: Twigs owner Tracey Foster (right) and assistant Annette Emens (left) enjoy working in the peaceful environment created within Yerington’s newest florist and gif shop. It just so happens the building was once a florist in the 1970s. Foster explained local residents Bob and Nancy Smith ran Bloomin Things in the same building. She said, in a way, this brings the building full circle.

The name “Twigs” came from her use of twigs and such in the floral arrangements. She said the name simply fit her tastes and captured the spirit of her business.

Aside from the floral portion, Twigs also offers items such as home decorations, body lotions and candles. In fact, her candle selection includes WoodWick™, which have been quite popular and often in need of restocking.

Foster said she decided to include more than just the floral aspect, as it gives selection and brings another place for people to shop without having to travel out of town.

Of course Foster is not the only person donning a smile in Twigs. Emens is also excited to be working in the pleasant environment. She said it is truly peaceful with great music playing and flowers all around.
“Being surrounded by flowers is really wonderful,” Emens said.

When not at work Emens enjoys sculpting, writing and painting. Originally from southern California, she moved to Yerington in 1973 and currently remains local with her husband of nearly 25 years, Ted.
Foster, a native of Yerington, enjoys gardening in her spare time as well as spending time with her two children and husband of more than 15 years, Jeff.

As for the future, both intend to remain local, and are planning an open house event for Twigs for Nov. 23-24.

Twigs is located at 61 SR208 south of town, can be reached via telephone at (775) 463-1052 and has a website at https://www.yeringtonflowers.com. Store hours include: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also Twigs will make flower deliveries within Mason Valley.
